Committees

Local 2305 Committees are:

Joint Occupational Health and Safety: this committee is comprised of 4 members of Management and 4 Union members (elected positions for the Union). The JOHSC is bound by the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Nova Scotia) and its Regulations. Please see Article 27 in our Collective Agreement for more information to the duties of this committee.

This committee meets monthly and conducts the worksite inspections.

Labour Management Committee: this committee is comprised of 4 members of Management and 4 Union Members (elected positions for the Union).  This committee concerns itself with general matters within the workplace. Please see Article 9 in our Collective Agreement for more information on this committee.

Bargaining Committee: this committee is set months prior to our local bargaining, which is with our employer (MCHA). The next time this committee will take nominations for this committee will be in September 2025 at the monthly Membership Meeting. This committee requires 4 members of our local and automatically includes the President and Vice President, which means 2 seats will be available for nominations when the time comes.

 

Bylaw Committee: this committee is set up approx. every 2yrs to review and make changes as needed. Our Bylaws are what govern our local.

It is important to note any and all changes made to our Bylaws, once completed at our local level are sent to CUPE National, where CUPE’s National President, Mark Hancock, or an affiliate, will review, makes suggestions and/or edits in order to adhere to CUPE’s National Constitution.
